 What is Heat Flow Technology?
A large amount of heat energy that is paid for in free standing heaters or thermostat controlled central heating oil, gas, electrical, air pump, biomass and solar systems is not used because it rises above the living or working areas because warm air is lighter than cool air.
As a result, a “Heat Stack” is formed in any space with hot air at the top, near the ceiling, and cooler air below near the floor. Most of the heat energy at the top of the “Heat Stack” remains unused, it leaks away and is lost.
Around 50% of the generated heat remains above the living or work area. In taller room spaces the unused heat can be as much as 60% of that created and yet it remains inaccessible.
Heat Flow Technology is a simple system that pumps the hot air at the top of the “Heat Stack”, using Heat Flow Pumps, to the bottom, near to floor level. In order to preserve the temperature of transferred air a vertical flexible ducting is used. This ensures the maximium transfer of heat energy to the lower living or working level.
 The amount of recovered heat depends upon the volume of air the heat flow pumps can transfer each hour. If the volume of air transferred each hour is at least double the volume of the room, a considerable amount of the potentially lost heat can be recovered.
As this air mixes with the air at the level of the central heating system thermostat the rise in temperature switches off the central heating system. As the circulating air slowly cools to the thermostat threshold temperature, the central heating is switched back on. The Heat Flow maintains desired temperatures while consuming less energy and therefore lowers heating bills.
In general the higher the volume of warm air recyled each hour compared to the total volume of a room the greater the impact of heat transfer technology in reducing energy consumption and energy bills.
